B2B
VJ’ing and DJ’ing are separated primarily because they involve different types of media and skill sets, even though both can be integral parts of a live performance or event. This project explores merging these skills and tools together to create a cohesive audio-visual experience.
The visuals featured were created through MAX MSP, using VSYNTH, to create video-synth like textures visually and projection mapped on white spray painted vinyls. Each knob, buttons and feature was MIDI mapped via the DJ controller interface to control opacity, color, visual transitions, and luminance
Here is the DJ controller for reference:
Process:
Before set up: spray paint 10 black vinyls into 10 white vinyls.
Tech setup:
2 speakers, 1 projector, 1 DJ controller, 1 audio interface, 1 podium, 1 monitor, 10 ft extension cord, 2 power strips, 4 power cords, and a cart.
